The Role

 

Our Teachers are responsible for delivering a flexible and innovative learning program to facilitate transitional education of young people who have many issues impacting on their capacity to engage in mainstream programs. 

Working within a small class size environment ensuring students are provided with additional support you will be responsible for teaching groups of students from Years 7 – 12 who have been disengaged from learning and/or have complex learning and social needs. 

Teachers will have sound knowledge and understanding of health, physical, and psychological disabilities in students and their impact on engagement and learning.

This role will be located in Kenwick and offered on a casual relief work basis.

Communicare Academy is an independent, non-government CARE (Curriculum and Re-engagement in Education) school operated by Communicare. We are committed to providing at-risk and disengaged young people with high quality education options in a flexible and supportive learning environment.

We provide a holistic education experience that meets the diverse needs of our students including small classes, education support staff, social-emotional development programs, personalised and flexible timetable options, excursions and camps, wrap-around student support services from a variety of in-school specialists and additional Communicare Inc. support services.

Selection Criteria

  • Current registration with the Teacher Registration Board of Western Australia
  • A teaching qualification from an accredited initial teacher education programme or from a programme recognised by the TRBWA as equivalent
  • Minimum of TAE40110 (Certificate IV Training and Assessment)
  • Proficient to the prescribed standard in English, both oral and written
  • Proficient mathematical background (desired)
  • Meet the professional standards for teachers at the Graduate level, with expertise in a major and minor field of teaching.
  • Demonstrated administration skills including report writing, program development and maintaining student files

  • Proven excellent positive classroom behaviour management

  • Ability to effectively work as part of a team and excellent communication skills
  • Unrestricted drivers’ licence
  • Satisfactory Police clearance (not older than 6 months from the issue date)
  • Current working with children check card
