The Role

Are you an educational leader committed to shaping high‑quality teaching and learning for young people who need it most? If you are passionate about leading impactful practice, cultivating a safe and inclusive learning culture, and guiding teachers to deliver exceptional outcomes, then the Head of Teaching and Learning role may be the perfect next step in your leadership journey.

In this role, you will work closely with Teachers, Education Support staff, and the Wellbeing team to deliver an innovative, flexible, and individualised academic and life skills program for young people who face significant barriers to engaging in mainstream education. You will provide day‑to‑day pedagogical leadership, oversee teaching operations, and work alongside the Principal on matters of compliance, curriculum oversight, operations, and strategic school improvement.

As a senior leader, you will guide teaching teams, strengthen instructional practice, and contribute to whole‑school systems, policies and processes that build a safe, high‑performance learning environment where every student can succeed.

As the Head of Teaching and Learning, you will:

  • Inspire and Influence: Lead with a strong pedagogical vision that prioritises child safety and high‑quality teaching, while mentoring and guiding teachers to deliver impactful learning experiences.

  • Drive Excellence: Oversee curriculum, assessment, compliance and teaching operations, ensuring robust systems, policies and processes that support a safe, inclusive and effective school environment.

  • Maximise Impact: Strategically coordinate people, resources and learning supports to optimise student outcomes, contribute to whole‑school improvement, and strengthen relationships with students, families and stakeholders.

This role will be located in Kenwick and offered on a permanent full-time work basis working 76 hours a fortnight.

About You

You are someone who thrives in environments where leadership, empathy, and strategic thinking intersect. You bring a deep understanding of the challenges faced by vulnerable young people and are passionate about creating safe, inclusive, and supportive learning spaces. Your ability to manage people, engage stakeholders, and navigate complex compliance landscapes makes you a trusted advisor and role model across the organisation. In addition, you will have:

  • Current registration with the Teacher Registration Board of Western Australia.

  • A teaching qualification at AQF Level 8 or higher.

  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessing TAE40116 (Desirable)

  • Strong communication, stakeholder engagement, and people management skills.

  • Advanced organisational, analytical, and problem-solving capabilities.

  • Working knowledge of disabilities or conditions including, but not limited to, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Dyslexia, ADHD, Oppositional Defiant Disorder, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, and complex trauma.

  • Valid drivers’ licence, Working with Children Check, Satisfactory Police clearance (not older than 6 months from the issue date).
